The sitter Katharine is facing dexter and is wearing a cream dress, blue and gold cloak and lace mantilla.
The overall condition of this painting is very good having been lined and cleaned, with some restoration/overpainting.The frame is in good condition.
Provenance: The collection of John Fane, Dreweatts, 26 November 2009, lot 214, and thence to Fulbeck Manor, Lincolnshire Thomas Fane, 6th Earl of Westmorland PC (1681 – 1736) married Katharine Stringer, daughter of Thomas Stringer in 1707, and they were married until she died on 4 February 1730 without issue.
The size of the painting is 74 x 61cm (29 x 24 in) whilst overall the size is 95.5 cm x 80cm (37.5 x 31.5 ins)
